The Lagos state police command has arrested two men identified as Yusuf Ahmed, 22, and Olayinka Sanusi, 34, for allegedly beating a man identified as Sharafadeen Atanda to death in the Surulere area of the state on Thursday, January 4 over claims he stole two car doors.

The Iponri Police division received a report from the wife of the deceased that she got a call from someone who stated that her husband was being beaten by some persons who accused him of stealing.

The distraught wife said on getting to the scene of the incident, she found her husband in the pool of his blood. She alleged that the same people who beat him up took him in a tricycle popularly known as Keke NAPEP and that she later heard that her husband died why he was being rushed to the hospital.

The DPO at the Iponri police division immediately facilitated the arrest of the two suspects and also recovered the body of the deceased that was abandoned in a Keke NAPEP.

The body has since been deposited at the Mainland Hospital Morgue while investigation into the matter is ongoing.
