Janet Akekoromowei has been ruled out of the Falconets’ clash against the Lionesses of Senegal this weekend, NEWSUNPLUG reports.

The Bayelsa Queens striker sustained an injury during the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier in Abeokuta which the Falconets won 1-0.

Akekoromowei’s replacement Kindness Ifeanyi scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute.

The 18-year-old will not recover in time for the reverse fixture which will hold in Dakar on Saturday.

A draw will be enough for the Falconets to advance to the next round where they will face either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi.

Moses Aduku’s side have qualified for every editions of the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
