Atletico Madrid forward, Ademola Lookman, on Wednesday made history following his side’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 playoff first-leg clash with Club Brugge.
Lookman was on the scoresheet as the Spanish LaLiga giants played a 3-3 draw with the Belgium outfit.
According to OptaJose, the Nigerian international is the first player to score in his debut with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League since Héctor Herrera against Juventus in September 2019.
The 28-year-old is also the first player to achieve the aforementioned record as a starter since Ángel Correa against Benfica in September 2015.
Lookman has been impressive for Atletico Madrid since joining the club from Atalanta in January.
The former Everton and Leicester City star has scored three goals so far for Diego Simeone’s side.
Lookman will now hope to lead Atletico Madrid to victory when they face Espanyol this weekend.
