Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has claimed that the team that wins the Champions League play-off tie with Manchester City will win the trophy in May.

This is the fourth consecutive season the two teams will play each other in the competition.

Real have emerged victorious twice and City the other.

It has led to Ancelotti dubbing their rivalry a new ‘Clasico’ ahead of their latest clash.

Also, in all three of those previous fixtures, the winner has gone on to win the Champions League trophy.

Ancelotti has tipped the winner of their latest clash to go all the way again, ahead of the first leg at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

“It seems like it’s a ‘Clasico’ because we have played each other a lot of times in this competition. It’s the most difficult game we can face, regardless of form.

“They are one of the best teams in Europe and they have the best manager out there. It’s a nightmare preparing for games against him because he always has ideas that make you think.

“I am convinced the team that goes through from this tie will go on to win the competition,” Ancelotti said.
