Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has admitted that the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup tournament affected his team.
Maresca spoke after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Qarabag FK in the Champions League on Wednesday.
NEWSUNPLUG reports Estevao Willian gave the Premier League west London club the lead in the 16th minute of the encounter.
But two goals from Leandro Andrade and Marko Jankovic gave Qarabag a first-half lead against the visitors.
Alejandro Garnacho then scored in the second half to restore parity for Maresca’s side.
Speaking to reporters in Baku after the game, Maresca said: “The Club World Cup affected us a lot.
“We had to make a rotation today. The intention was to rest Caicedo, Enzo, Gusto and more players.”
Recall that Chelsea is the current holder of the Club World Cup after winning the competition in the summer.
Chelsea will now face Wolves in the Premier League in their next game this weekend.
