Benfica manager, Jose Mourinho, has appreciated Chelsea fans for their warm reception on his return to Stamford Bridge, but admitted his frustration at losing on Tuesday.

Mourinho’s men lost 1-0 thanks to a Richard Rios’ own goal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

On the night, the home supporters sang the 62-year-old’s name.

Mourinho coached Chelsea across two spells, winning three Premier League titles.

When he first returned to Stamford Bridge with Inter Milan in 2010, Mourinho won the game, but the Portuguese has now lost on his subsequent seven visits.

“I don’t feed myself with these memories, I feed myself with victories, with results,” Mourinho said.

“But I thank them [for signing my name], I did that on the pitch. When I am in London, I meet Chelsea fans every day on the street.”
