Former Chelsea midfielder, Joe Cole, has named the club’s midfielder, Moises Caicedo as the best midfielder in the world at the moment.

He said that he would not swap the Ecuador international for anybody else in the game.

Caicedo joined the Blues from Brighton in a then British-record fee of £115 million back in 2023.

Caicedo has firmly established himself among the most highly regarded central midfielders in English football.

He is expected to be in the starting lineup this evening when Chelsea resume their Champions League campaign at home to Ajax on Wednesday.

“He’s the best midfielder in the world between the boxes, and he’s improving at both ends of the pitch as well. I think he’s absolutely brilliant,” ex-Chelsea winger Cole told Paddy Power when asked about Caicedo.

“In terms of breaking up play, playing it through the lines, being intelligent, driving the team forward, and he’s also adding goals to his game, and he scores great goals.

“I’m struggling to think of somebody I’d want in my midfield better than him at the moment, I really would. And that’s a massive shout.

“But I wouldn’t swap him for anyone now at Chelsea.”

Chelsea beat Benfica in the last Champions League outing, following a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in their opening game of the campaign.
