Arsenal legend Paul Merson has warned Chelsea ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Merson said it would be a walk in the park for Real Madrid if the Blues approach the game as they did in their Premier League game with Wolves on Saturday.

Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by the Wanderers courtesy of a 31st-minute strike scored by Matheus Nunes.

Merson noted that Chelsea were beaten because they lacked urgency in their game.

He warned that if the same thing happens against Real Madrid next week, the Blues could suffer a heavier defeat at the hands of Los Blancos.

“My only benefit of the doubt is they’re waiting for Wednesday night,” he told Sky Sports.

“That is the only thing I can think of. If they turn up like that on Wednesday night, it will be pointless going to the second leg. It could be a cricket score.”
