Victor Osimhen will look to join Obafemi Martins as Nigerians with most goals in European competitions when Galatasaray take on Ajax in a UEFA Champions League tie at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday (today).

Martins, a former Inter Milan striker currently holds the record with 23 goals.

Osimhen has so far scored 22 times in Europe across his spells with Lille, Napoli and now Galatasaray.\

The 26-year-old has netted 12 times in the UEFA Champions League, and 10 in the UEFA Europa League.

A goal against Ajax would see the powerful hitman draw level with Martins, whilst two goals would make him Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer in European club football.

DAILY POST recalls Osimhen made history as the first Galatasaray player to score in eight consecutive European games after grabbing a brace in the Yellow and Reds 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt last month.
