Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Junior, on Tuesday, surpassed the club’s former player Kaka’s goals record in the UEFA Champions League competition.

This comes after the Brazilian international scored the only goal in Real Madrid’s Champions League Round of 16 playoff first leg tie against Benfica in Portugal.

Vinicius’ second-half goal ensured Real Madrid defeated Jose Mourinho’s side 1-0 ahead of the return leg next week in Spain.

However, according to OptaJose, Vinicius’ goal means the 25-year-old has now scored 31 Champions League goals in his career.

He overtook Kaka, who had 30 goals in the competition during his playing days.

Vinicius is now the second player with the most goals scored by Brazilian players in Champions League history.

He is 12 goals behind former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.

The top three Brazilian players with the most goals in Champions League history:

Neymar Jr – 43 goals.
Vinicius – 31 goals.
Kaká – 30 goals.
