Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot, has admitted that Victor Osimhen’s early injury made it easier for the Reds to beat Galatasaray in their Champions League clash on Wednesday night.

The Premier League giants won 4-0 on the night, progressing to the quarter-finals 4-1 on aggregate.

Osimhen sustained an arm injury early in the game following a tackle from France international Ibrahim Konate.

The Nigerian striker, however, managed to complete the first half, before he was substituted after the break.

Liverpool led 1-0 in the first half thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai’s strike.

Hugo Ektike, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mohamed Salah added more goals for the hosts in the second half.

Slot said Osimhen’s injury worked in favour of his team.

”Osimhen is an incredible player for them,” Slot noted. “Yeah, [the injury] worked for us, but when you look at the first 10 minutes and how the team played with him, I thought he would play the full 90 because the rest of the team plays so well off him,” Slot said after the game.
