Bayern Munich captain, Joshua Kimmich, does not rate Arsenal as the toughest team the Bundesliga side have faced this season.
The midfielder does not even believe the Gunners play football but sees Mikel Arteta’s side as a team that just wants to win by any means.
He said this following Bayern Munich’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Jurrien Timber put the home side in front after 22 minutes of play but 17-year-old Lennart Karl pulled Bayern level 10 minutes later.
Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli both came off the bench to give Mikel Arteta’s side the win and open a 3 point gap in the Champions League table.
Bayern, who suffered their first defeat of the season against the Gunners, had beaten the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in the Champions League.
Kimmich believes PSG provided a more difficult test than Arsenal despite the defeat.
Following the defeat, the Germany International was asked if the Gunners are the toughest opponents his side have faced this season, he told TNT Sports Brasil, “No, I don’t think so.
“I think PSG were the toughest one, especially the way they play football.
“Arsenal is completely different. They rely on set-pieces. They love to play the long balls, they love to fight for the second balls, it was a completely different game.
“Against PSG, it’s more of a football game. Today, it was not so much about football, it was about game management, it was more about the duels.”
Arsenal will now make a trip to west London where Chelsea, who also beat Barcelona 3-0 earlier on Tuesday, await them for a top-of-the-table clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
