Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba has slammed the current crop of players at Stamford Bridge, saying the Blues need players who ‘bring madness to the stadium.’
Drogba, one of Chelsea’s finest strikers ever, watched as Real Madrid beat his former team effortlessly to book a place in the semi-final of the Champions League.
It was Chelsea’s thirteenth defeat of the season, which also means that they are no longer hoping to win anything this season or qualify for next season’s Champions League.
The defeat was also Frank Lampard’s fourth straight loss since taking temporary charge at the west London side.
There’s also no guarantee that Chelsea will qualify for either the Europa League or the Conference Cup as they sit 17 points behind fourth place.
Just as a host of pundits have pointed out, the former Chelsea striker said that the Chelsea squad, with over 30 first-team players, will be too much for any manager to handle.
“They lack charismatic leaders,” Drogba told Canal Plus.
“We need players who take the game on their own, take their responsibilities. You need a player who brings madness to the stadium.
“Here we are betting on very young players, but a dressing room with more than 30 players is difficult [to manage] for a coach.”
