Former Everton forward, James McFadden, has reacted to Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal for Celtic in the UEFA Europa League 1-1 draw with Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.
He was impressed by the Nigeria international’s first touch and composed finish during the game.
Iheanacho, who started the game from the substitute bench, came on in the second half to break the deadlock at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.
The forward met a pass from Benjamin Nygren, and slotted calmly into the far corner, having controlled the ball splendidly.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound, McFadden pointed to the quality of the former Leicester City man’s technique.
“First of all, what a first touch it is, he kills it dead and then reverses it into the far corner,” the former Premier League star said.
“It comes from Yang being high and wide and Donovan picking the ball up and driving into space. The first touch makes it, it’s incredible. A really composed finish, too.”
Iheanacho moved to the Scottish giants from Middlesbrough as a free agent in the summer transfer window and has enjoyed a bright start to life in Scotland.
Iheanacho, 28, has scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist in 3 games for the Scottish Premier League champions.
