Former UFC fighter BJ Penn has been arrested for the sixth time after allegedly punching and kicking another man in Hawai’i.

Hawai’i Island Police say the 46-year-old ex-fighter was booked and charged with third-degree assault after the incident that occurred early Tuesday morning.

According to a statement from the Hawai’i Island Police, authorities responded to a home in the city of Hilo, the largest city on the ‘big island’ of Hawai’i, at 1:00am.

The victim claims Penn punched and kicked him ‘multiple times before the victim was able to leave the area and contact police’.

The victim later went to a local medical center for treatment for his injuries.

Penn was then picked up by police on a different street nearly eleven hours later at 11:50am. He was booked and later posted a $1,000 bail. He is due in court on December 2.

This is not the first time Penn has had run-ins with the law. In fact, this is the sixth time this year he’s been arrested.

The previous encounters have involved alleged abuse of his 79-year-old mother, Lorraine Shin.

Back in September, Penn was arrested for violating a restraining order that Shin had placed upon him.

In May, Penn was arrested twice and charged with abusing his mother. She later filed a restraining order against him.

Penn had shared footage on Instagram of police arresting him at his home, with the video showing authorities dragging him out of his bed before leading him away in handcuffs.

He was then arrested on a charge of ‘abuse family or household member: offensive physical contact.’

Penn was eventually released on $2,000 bail.
