Ratel President Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has weighed in on the recent life imprisonment sentence handed to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu, whose legal battle lasted four years, was sentenced to life in prison. Sharing his reaction on Instagram, VDM described the verdict as a deliberate distraction from Nigeria’s pressing issues.

He highlighted that the ruling comes at a time when the country is grappling with rising insecurity, affecting Christians, Muslims, traditionalists, and people across ethnic groups including Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa. VDM argued that it was unrealistic to expect Kanu to walk free, suggesting that the sentence was more about diverting public attention. He also predicted that Kanu may serve around 20 years before any possibility of release.

VDM also criticized the president, saying he should step down if he cannot ensure the rescue of the girls abducted in Kebbi State. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, warning that the nation is surrounded by terrorist threats.

Reflecting on Kanu’s past actions, VDM noted that the IPOB leader had long spoken out about insecurity, portraying him as someone who “sacrificed himself for many.”

Addressing Nigerian youths, VDM cautioned against letting the government create divisions. He also advised people planning to travel during the December holidays to confirm that their transport providers have armed security; if not, he recommended postponing their trips.
