Journalist and broadcaster Rufai Oseni has reacted to the killing of Anglican priest Venerable Edwin Achi, describing his death as a targeted attack on his faith and another tragic example of rising insecurity in Nigeria.
Oseni said the priest and his wife were abducted in Kaduna State, and despite the family managing to raise the ransom demanded by the kidnappers, the bandits later instructed them to retrieve the priest’s decomposing body.

He argued that the murder was driven by religious hostility and reflected a wider pattern of attacks on Christian communities.

He also highlighted the emotional devastation faced by the family, noting that the priest’s elderly mother, who is in her nineties, has still not been informed of her son’s death.
According to him, the incident further shows how insecurity continues to overwhelm families across the country.
