Victor Osimhen has etched his name into the history books, becoming the first Nigerian player to score 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

The Galatasaray striker achieved the milestone from the penalty spot in the game against Liverpool on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in Istanbul. The game ended 1-0 in favour of the Turkish side ensuring that the Reds suffered back-to-back losses across all competitions.

The Super Eagles star has been instrumental for Galatasaray on the continental stage, combining power, pace, and precision to trouble the toughest defenses in Europe. With this feat, Victor Osimhen not only sets a new benchmark for Nigerian footballers but also strengthens his reputation as a player capable of shining on the biggest stage.

Who are the top Nigerian Scorers in the UEFA Champions League?

Obafemi Martins – 9 goals (with Inter Milan and Wolfsburg)

Yakubu Aiyegbeni – 4 goals (with Maccabi Haifa)

Nwankwo Kanu – 4 goals (with Ajax and Arsenal)

Finidi George – 4 goals (with Ajax)

Shola Ameobi – 3 goals (with Newcastle United)

Galatasaray and Victor Osimhen will hope they can continue in this fine form as they progress in the remaining group games of the UEFA Champions League.
