As the second round of the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers commences in October 2025, here are key details such as fixtures, results and table standings.
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification is the process by which African women’s national teams compete for the 15 available slots to join host Morocco in the final tournament.
WAFCON 2026 Format & Rounds
- The qualifiers started in February 2025 and extend through to October 2025.
- The competition features two rounds:
- First Round: Lower-ranked teams play home-and-away two-legged ties.
- Second Round: The winners from the first round face teams that received a bye (higher-ranked teams). The winners of these ties qualify for the finals.
- If aggregate scores are level after two legs, the away goals rule applies. If still tied, the tie goes to a penalty shoot-out (no extra time).
CAF also expanded WAFCON in 2026 to 16 teams (up from previous editions) to allow more nations to participate in the finals.
Below are some of the notable fixtures and outcomes in the qualification stages.
