Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has said his players can’t afford to be complacent against Benin Republic, NEWSUNPLUG reports.
Madugu’s side will face the Amazons in the first leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Stade de Kegue, Lome on Friday.
Defending champions, Nigeria are expected to roll over their neighbours, who head into the game as the underdogs.
The gaffer is however not ready to leave anything to chance against the Amazons.
Madugu described them as a reputable opponent.
“On the field of play, we can’t underrate anybody. Benin Republic are here because they defeated teams, so they deserve a lot of respect.
“We are not looking at them as a lesser fancy team because it is not South Africa or Morocco. As far as we are concerned, they are reputable opponents,” he told reporters ahead of the game.
The second leg will hold at the Moshood Abiola Sports, Arena, Abeokuta next week Tuesday.
