The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) yesterday denied an alleged raid of its office by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) to seize incriminating documents against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his associates.

The agency said since May 29, it had not received any directive from the Federal Government to cover up any matter on the President and his associates.

The bureau described an online media report on the subject matter as “fake news” and urged members of the public to disregard it.

The CCB made the clarifications in a statement at the weekend in Abuja through its Director of Education and Advocacy Services Department, Daniel Okafor.

The statement said,

“The attention of the Code of Conduct Bureau has been drawn to an online publication of Friday, July 7, 2023, claiming that the DSS raided offices of anti-corruption agencies, specifically the CCB, ICPC and EFCC, and carted away incriminating documents affecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his associates.

“While CCB would have preferred to ignore the write up, given the unprofessional way and manner the story was put together, but doing so would give the tale some nuisance value and in a way that would help the writers to achieve their aim of misinforming and misleading the public about an event that happened only in the minds of the writers.

“The CCB wishes to state unequivocally that at no time did the DSS or any apparatus of the Federal Government of Nigeria carry out any raid or search for incriminating documents on the President and his associates on the office of the Code of Conduct Bureau Head office in Abuja or any of the offices in the states and FCT.”
