Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has spoken up against the kidnapping and selling of Northern children in the southern parts of the country.

Addressing newsmen on Saturday, January 6, the Emir who was represented by Dan Malikin Kano, Amb Ahmad Umar, stated that the emirate would no longer condone the abduction and trading of children in the state.

He added that the issue had gotten out of hand and proactive action must be taken to curb it.

The Emir said;

“This ugly trend must stop. We have to rise up against it. We will no longer condone a situation whereby our children are kidnapped, and sold and their tribe and religion changed.

“This illicit act must stop. We have to rise up to check the situation as it is getting out of hand. It happened a few years ago and it has happened again. Only God knows how many of our children have been kidnapped and sold.”
