Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone has praised Ademola Lookman and Julian Alvarez following a stunning 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
Both players not only scored but also assisted each other during the match on Thursday night.
In his post-match press conference, Simeone highlighted Lookman’s assist as “fantastic” and lauded Alvarez’s exceptional work rate, particularly in the first half.
He said, “The assist for Lookman was fantastic. [Alvarez’s] work rate in the first half was incredible.
“Scoring goals is something he has, and thank God he is back. He needed that goal so much, and for sure it will help clear him up for what is next.”
Atletico Madrid’s next challenge will be against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, February 15.
