The CEO of Wale Adenuga Production, WAP, Wale Adenuga, has released a statement following the viral interview with the actor Abiodun Ayoyinka.
Newsunplug reported that the Papa Ajasco actor, in an interview with Lucky Udu, opened up about his financial hardships and the limitations he has faced in recent years. He revealed that the character he made famous is trademarked by the production company, preventing him from using his character for personal projects, endorsements, or advertisements.

In a press statement on its official Instagram page, the billionaire showered Abiodun with praise for his acting prowess. However, he made it known that the actor has a car, five cars, including a Mercedes-Benz, and a house in Ogun State.
He explained that Abiodun can’t use the copyrighted brand name for personal ventures because it is their duty to protect the brand from inappropriate usage that could damage its reputation.
Wale Adenuga made it clear that he wasn’t barred from accepting advert jobs, but he was required to seek official approval from WAP as part of the brand’s protection. He questioned why the popular actor was pretending to be broke, his investments from his over 30 years of meritorious service with the Lagos State Government, his gratuities and more.
He noted that his colleagues, Pa James, Mama Ajasco, Boy Alinco, and others are always on various film locations working under their personal names, which proves they aren’t being restricted.
Wale Adenuga also added that he pays according to industry standards and ensured all financial obligations are fulfilled as due. Therefore, any narrative suggesting that their organisation engaged in financial abandonment or exploitation is entirely false and misleading.
Reacting to it, Liz Da Silva expressed disdain in the trademarking of his name. She questioned if Abiodun was their brother, they would have done it. The Yoruba actress said she has tried to reach out to him, but he hasn’t responded.
