A 29-year-old woman identified as Chisom Okonkwo has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Enugu after accusing her husband, Ozioma Okonkwo, of sexually assaulting their two daughters.

The incident reportedly happened during a marital dispute in August 2024 at Emene, Enugu, Leadership reported.

According to the charge sheet, Chisom allegedly went public with the accusation, claiming her husband defiled their 2-year-old and 5-year-old daughters. The police said the allegation damaged the man’s reputation and exposed him to ridicule.

Ozioma was arrested on October 25, 2025, based on the report. However, after medical examinations were carried out on the children, no evidence of abuse was found. He was later released.

The police also accused Chisom of providing false information to detectives at the State Intelligence Department.

The case is being treated under Sections 325 and 154 of the Criminal Code of Enugu State, which deal with defamation and giving false information to law enforcement.

As of now, the court has not released details of her plea or possible bail conditions.

The situation has sparked mixed reactions online, with many calling for thorough investigation in cases involving children, to avoid both false accusations and ignored abuse.
