A gruesome murder case has shaken Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe, as police launch a manhunt for a 34-year-old woman, Linnar Muzimela, and her boyfriend, identified only as Nkosi, over the killing of Muzimela’s stepmother, 58-year-old Jenifer Dube.
The incident is believed to have occurred in May 2025 at Magotsha Line, but it only came to light months later. On 2 September, police recovered Dube’s remains from a shallow grave in the backyard garden after acting on a tip-off.
Investigators allege that Muzimela and Nkosi murdered Dube before secretly burying her. The motive behind the crime remains unknown, and police are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi appealed for public assistance in tracking down the suspects, urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Linnar Muzimela and her boyfriend, Nkosi. They are wanted in connection with a case of murder in which the victim, who was Muzimela’s stepmother, was killed and buried in a shallow grave at Magotsha Line,” Nyathi said.
Neighbours had reportedly raised concerns after Dube disappeared for several weeks, prompting suspicions that led authorities to search the property. Their concerns were confirmed when police unearthed the body.
Commissioner Nyathi emphasised the importance of public cooperation, asking those with knowledge of the fugitives’ whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
The motive remains unclear, but police say the search for Muzimela and Nkosi is being intensified.
