A 73-year-old pensioner has died after being run over by her own car in the car park of a doctor’s surgery in Kirkstall, Leeds, United Kingdom.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Abbey Grange Medical Practice on Norman Street around 4:55 p.m. on October 29, following reports that a woman had been struck by her vehicle.
According to West Yorkshire Police, the woman’s Kia Picanto is believed to have been parked on a slight slope when it suddenly rolled backwards, knocking her to the ground. Despite paramedics’ best efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, police confirmed:
“Officers were called to reports that a 73-year-old woman had been in collision with her own vehicle. It’s believed the car rolled back and struck her. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The force has launched an appeal for witnesses, asking anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
