Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard has told England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, that he is developing a lot better than he (Gerrard) did at the age of 19.
Gerrard stated this after Bellingham impressed in England’s Euro 2024 qualifier 2-0 win over Ukraine at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
England defeated Ukraine thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.
Speaking to Channel 4 after the match, Gerrard said: “Listen, let me tell you [Bellingham] right now, you are a lot further ahead than I was at your age.
“So you are going in the right direction. He is more confident than me on the ball in terms of what he will try, and I am not just saying that, just being modest, I am saying that as it is the truth.
“I think he is further on than what I was at 19.”
