Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr has expressed disappointment following his team’s loss to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, NEWSUNPLUG reports.
The Cheetahs were thrashed 4-0 by their neighbours at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Tuesday.
The defeat put paid to the West Africans ambition of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
South Africa secured top spot in Group C, and earn qualification to the global soccer fiesta.
Nigeria, who finished second in the group secure a place in the playoffs.
“We’re disappointed because our dream was to play at the World Cup,” Rohr told a press conference
“Big disappointment, that is my initial reaction.
“However, we have a young team and we will continue to build.”
