2026 World Cup: I’ll Take Tough Decisions’ – Tuchel Says Three England Superstars Can’t Play Together

England coach, Thomas Tuchel, has explained why three Three Lion stars, Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden cannot play together.

The former Chelsea boss said this ahead of next summer’s World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.

England has already booked their place in the tournament and would face the problem of how to utilise their abundance of attacking talents.

With qualification already in the bag, England play Serbia and Albania in the last round of matches with Bellingham and Foden returning to the squad.

While Foden has struggled for form in an England shirt, Tuchel appears not to be a fan of Bellingham and would prefer the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Morgan Rogers or Anthony Gordon in the Real Madrid star’s place as Cole Palmer remains absent due to injury.

Captain Kane remains England’s undisputed leading man up front and the former Borussia Dortmund manager insists the three superstars cannot function together in his team.

Tuchel warned the players to expect difficult decisions when he names his final squad next year.

“At the moment, if we keep the structure, they cannot play,” said Tuchel

“They can but not in the structure, not for the balance that we developed and not for structure that comes also with wingers who are specialists in their positions. We play at the moment with a six, eight, a 10 and a nine.

“Especially in the number 10 position if you think about Phil who could play there, if you think about Jude, you think about Morgan Rogers, who played fantastic for us in this position.

“You have Cole Palmer, you have Morgan Gibbs-White, so there’s a lot, a lot of players, and there’s the chance that we will not take everyone.

‘‘We will always do what’s best for winning even if it means that we have to take tough decisions.

“We take tough decisions in any camp, and this will not change when we go to a tournament.”
