Arsenal legend Paul Merson has insisted that Manchester United are finished and are out of the Premier League title race this season.

According to Merson, only Liverpool and Arsenal are the two teams to challenge Man City for the Premier League title this season.

Man City, who won the Premier League title last season, are currently at the top of the English top-flight league.

Pep Guardiola’s side are ahead of Tottenham (second), Liverpool (third), Arsenal (fourth), and Man United (thirteenth).

In his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “Man Utd out of the title race already. Liverpool and Arsenal are the only contenders for Manchester City this season. For example, Manchester United are already nine points behind. They are finished. Done. They can’t win the league – because it’s Man City. If it’s any other team, you can go, ‘Oh, if you put a run together, you never know.’ But City are not losing four or five games.”
