The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and their Egyptian counterparts are in talks to fix a new date for the international friendly between the Super Eagles and Pharaohs.

The friendly was originally fixed for Sunday, 14 December at the Cairo International Stadium.

However, FIFA’s decision to shift the release date for players for AFCON 2025 has forced the cancellation of the friendly.

Majority of the European players will only arrive camp on 15 December as mandated by FIFA.

According to BSN Sports, the NFF and EFA are working to agree on a new date that ensures the availability of their major stars while the venue remains unchanged.

The friendly will form part of both countries’ preparations for the competition.

The AFCON 2025 finals will get underway in Morocco on Sunday, 21 December.
