Nigerian Grammy-winning artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about his close bond with his logistics manager, Isreal DMW.
During a livestream with Nigerian skitmaker Carter Efe, Davido discussed his friendship with Isreal, drawing parallels between Efe and his friend Kolu. He described his relationship with Isreal as one of genuine trust and emotional support, despite the teasing they sometimes face from others.
“A lot of people laugh at me and Isreal, but he’s one of my closest friends and someone I can cry to that’s just life,” Davido shared.
In another update, Davido also spoke about his collaboration with fellow musician Omah Lay, explaining that it was meant to clear up any misconceptions about their relationship. In 2024, Omah Lay admitted he initially thought Davido disliked him until the DMW boss played his songs during a famous livestream with American streamer Kai Cenat in Lagos.
Davido recounted reaching out to Omah Lay after seeing a tweet from the singer. Their conversation eventually led to a musical collaboration on the track With You.
He explained, “Kai Cenat came to Nigeria, and I was driving him to the club when Omah Lay’s song came on. He asked, ‘Who is this?’ I said, ‘Oh, this is Omah Lay, he’s really talented.’ The next day, Omah Lay tweeted, ‘Wow! Davido gave me a shoutout on a livestream; I thought he hated me.’ I then DMed him, ‘Why would you think I hate you? We’ve never even met.’
“We exchanged numbers and started working on music together. Out of four songs we worked on, we decided to release With You.”
