Former Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has said he told midfielder Federico Valverde that it was a shame he didn’t have a Brazilian passport.

Ancelotti, who is the current head coach of the Brazil national football team, said he sent the message to the Uruguayan international after his hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League last week.

“I have sent a message to Fede Valverde… I told him: it is a shame you don’t have a Brazilian passport.

“I made a bet with Fede years ago that he’d score 10 goals in a season — or I’d revoke my coaching license,” Ancelotti told Marca.

Ancelotti coached Valverde during his time as manager of the Los Blancos.

Valverde will now hope to lead Real Madrid to victory when they face Man City in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg tie.
