Lanre Afod, the younger brother of Nollywood actor Kunle Afod, has opened up on surviving heart failure.
In an interview with Biola Bayo, he disclosed that he faced death twice and is a survivor of heart failure. He recalled a day when a doctor told him he was dying.
Lanre disclosed that his heart failure was due to energy drinks. He credited his brother’s estranged wife, Desola Afod, for helping him back on his feet, saying she promised to buy his medication for him to survive.
“I faced death twice; I saw it like this. I am telling you, I am a survivor of heart failure. Some people messaged me, some called me. One of them was Allwell Ademola. I remember one day when a doctor was talking to me; he said You’re dying. I burst into tears; I was scared; I thought I knew God. I am against energy drinks. Energy drinks contribute to my sickness.
Ricardo Agbo walked in and saw me; he said, “Lanre, Lanre, stop! Why are you consuming so many energy drinks?”
He told me it causes heart problems. That was almost a month later.
After I left the hospital, God sent me another Angel, Desola Afod. God bless her. She said, “As long as you need the medication to survive, I’ll continue to buy it for you”.
