Activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has called out a family for hiding a man who staged his own abduction and extorted N500, 000 as ransom from a police family member.
Harrison shared what appears to be a video the man recorded from the bush where he was being purportedly held by his abductors. “
In the video, he looked terrified and later appealed to the abductors that his Uncle lives in the US and will provide the ransom.
‘’I will call somebody. You guys should not k!ll me. I will call my Uncle in the US. He will send the N500, 000” the man who looked distraught said as a cutlass was pointed to him by his abductors.
Harrison who shared the video, revealed that the abduction was staged. He claimed that the family of the man is hiding him from being prosecuted.
‘’This idiat k!dnapped himself, his family reached out and he made everyone looks stupid!d, finally took 500k ransom and freed himself. I am posting this video so the family can turn him over to the police as they are currently covering his crime.
When a person falsely claims to have been abducted or stages their own kidnapping to gain sympathy and raise money, the consequences are serious, specially for the victim’s family and under Nigerian law.Nigerian Travel Guide
There are real victims of kidnapping who desperately need help. Creating false cases only makes it harder for security agencies and security volunteers to respond quickly to genuine emergencies.” Harrison wrote
