Kylian Mbappé’s former teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Ramos, has backed the Real Madrid forward to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

Ramos admitted that even though Mbappé did not win major titles this season, he deserves to take the award home.

The two players spent two years together at the Parc des Princes between 2021 and 2023.

Ramos now plays for Monterrey in Mexico, while Mbappé has moved to another of the defender’s former clubs, Real Madrid.

In his debut season with the La Liga giants, Mbappé has won the Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.
The 26-year-old finished the campaign with a record-breaking 43 goals in 56 games, winning the European Golden Shoe.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Ramos said: “I [will] always give it to Mbappé.

“It’s a decisive trophy, but you never know what the criteria are for the Ballon d’Or.

“He scores goals, won the Golden Boot, even though Madrid hasn’t won other titles that other teams have won.

“These are individual awards, not collective ones, but there are some very interesting players who have won leagues and cups.”
