Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has stated that goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has not helped himself and has not contributed anything meaningful to the club.
Before the former Chelsea goalkeeper made the big mistake that allowed Manchester City to score their first goal, Neville mentioned that the Spanish player had already shown some signs of not being confident and had let the other team take control of the game.
Arsenal lost badly 2-0 to their Premier League title competitors, Manchester City on Sunday, missing the chance to win their first title of the season.
City scored the first goal after halftime when Arizzabalaga mishandled the ball, allowing Nico O’Reilly to head it into an empty net.
Neville talked to Sky Sports and criticized Kepa’s behavior before the big mistake he made.
The ex-Red Devils captain also questioned why the Gunners played more slowly in the second half, saying that their defensive approach was a main reason they lost.
He said, “The player has to get rid of the ball because it’s not helping them. It’s not helping Arsenal at all.
“He hasn’t helped himself, not just because of that mistake, he was bringing Manchester City into the situation, and he was rolling his foot over the ball.
“And then there’s this one, it’s a really bad goal from the goalkeeper.”
“Mikel Arteta’s team remain ahead of their main title rivals Manchester City, holding a nine-point lead with seven matches remaining.
However, the Cityzens have one more game coming up.
