    Teacher, 33, accused of gr0oming and r@ping a 16-year-old girl

A teacher has been accused of gr0oming and having s£x with a 16-year-old girl.

Jakob Sorensen, a teacher at a school in Dorset Town, called in sick to meet a female pupil he had groomed for s£x on Snapchat, and then r@ped her after she tried to cut off contact, a court heard.

    Teacher, 33, accused of gr0oming and r@ping a 16-year-oldgirl

Jurors were told Sorensen became ‘obsessed’ with the 16-year-old girl and began messaging her on the social media app.

Although she thought the 33-year-old was too old for Snapchat, she engaged with him, which led to him ‘s£xting’ her during school time, the court heard.

He is alleged to have forced himself on her when they met up again, despite her saying ‘no’ to s£x.

Sorensen admits a charge of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust but denies a charge of r@pe.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard on Tuesday how Sorensen had groomed the girl while at a school in the Dorset town, gaining her trust before the teacher ‘crossed the line’ by sending her his Snapchat name.

The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told police: “I thought he’s a bit old for Snapchat and I didn’t think that was something teachers and students were allowed to communicate on.

“But I didn’t want to scare him off and not have that person to confide in.”

She said Sorenson turned the chat sexual which made her feel ‘very uncomfortable’ and set off ‘alarm bells’.

The court was told Sorensen then asked her to meet up outside of school to ‘make out’.

The girl said: ‘I remember feeling quite disturbed, I felt like I was very out of my depth but didn’t know what to do.

‘I had never had anyone call me beautiful, I was very insecure and had low self-esteem.’

After he kissed her for the first time he started ‘sexting’ during school hours, the court heard.

He then called in sick to school the first time he took her out to have sex. He did not use protection and gave her money to get the morning after pill, the jury was told.

She told police that from then on they would go out in his car multiple times a week after school to have sex and Sorensen would tell her he was in love with her.

She said: “He was telling me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He wanted me to have his children and said he’d found his soul mate.”

But the girl did not want a relationship and when she started college she met a boy her own age she had feelings for. She tried to break things off with Sorensen but said he was “distraught”.

She said: “He would regularly break down and cry. He would make me feel incredibly guilty and tell me how much he needed me.”

The girl tried to cut off contact several times over the following months but they met up on occasions.

She said of the occasion he is alleged to have raped her: “He asked me to have sex with him, I said ‘no’.

‘I said ‘no’ multiple times. He kept grabbing me, trying to push me to have s£x with him.

“He kept saying things like ‘you know you want to’ then got on top of me. I turned my head away and closed my eyes.

“I felt very violated, because I had said no.”

Sorensen, from Verwood, Dorset, has admitted one charge of sexual activity with a child in a position of trust but denies a charge of r@pe.

    The trial continues.

Army foils Boko Haram attempt to plant IED on Borno bridge

Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted Boko Haram terrorists attempting to plant improvised explosive devices on a bridge along the Dikwa–Marte road in Borno State.

The operation, which resulted in a prolonged gun battle, led to the recovery of two heavy IEDs.

This latest development is part of ongoing counteroffensive efforts by the troops of the Northeast Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, to eliminate terrorist threats in the region.

Speaking with Channels Television, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsallam Abubakar, said, “Within the past week, troops conducted clearance operations deep into the Lake Chad region, Sambisa Forest, and the Mandara Mountains.”

He added that the operations resulted in the killing of nine terrorists in Bama, Gwoza, and Konduga Local Government Areas of Borno State.

According to Major General Abubakar, the military’s joint operations involve coordinated efforts by the Nigerian Navy patrolling the Lake Chad shores, the Nigerian Army conducting ground operations, and the Nigerian Air Force delivering precision airstrikes.

In addition to the recovered explosives, troops also seized AK-47 rifles and PKT machine guns from the terrorists.

“The sustained offensives have significantly enhanced stability and security in border communities around the Lake Chad fringes,” the Theatre Commander said.

The father-of-two confessed to shooting his 22-year-old wife, Mandy Coleman, in the head inside their home in Ridgeway, Virginia.

A man, Joshua Coleman, 30 has k!lled his wife after suspecting that she was cheating on him.

After k!lling his wife, he then hunted down another man to murd£r because he “knew he was going to jail,” according to a criminal complaint.

The father-of-two confessed to shooting his 22-year-old wife, Mandy Coleman, in the head inside their home in Ridgeway, Virginia, during a fight last Tuesday, July 22, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WDBJ.

He then hunted down 68-year-old William Morey because he “knew he was going to jail” anyway, according to the complaint, which did not elaborate on why he wanted to k!ll Morey.

Coleman initially could not locate Morey until he went back to his own home, where he found the other man outside while heading to check up on Mandy, the report said.

Coleman then shot him de@d, too, according to the affidavit. He left the de@d man’s bullet-riddled body in the street leading cops to the slain wife inside the house.

Coleman was quickly “identified as the suspect in connection with the murd£rs,” the Henry County Sheriff’s Office said, adding that “deputies also became concerned for the welfare” of the Colemans’ “two small children.”

“An immediate, coordinated effort was launched to locate the children and the suspect,” the sheriff’s office said.

Coleman was finally busted during a trafic stop and “found to be armed with a handgun and an AR-15 rifle,” deputies said.

The two children were found inside the vehicle, safe and unharmed.

Coleman then confessed to shooting his wife in the head during an argument in which he accused her of cheating on him, the court docs said.

It was unclear why he targeted Morey, whose relationship to the Colemans was not immediately clear.

Coleman is charged with two counts of first-degree murd£r as well as child abuse. He is being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.

“This is a heartbreaking and tragic situation that has deeply affected two families and our entire community,” Sheriff Wayne Davis said. “Our hearts go out to the loved ones of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.”

  • South African man arrested for 2022 m3rder of his wife

South African man arrested for 2022 m3rder of his wife

A 45-year-old South African man, Khayelihle Khehla Dhlomo, has been arrested for the m8rder of his wife, Khanyisile Dhlomo, whose death was ruled a suicide in 2022.

Dhlomo, the principal of Sithembile Primary School in Lindelani, appeared in a Durban court on Monday, July 28, 2025 following his arrest.

He was formally charged with m8rder and remanded in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for 5 August 2025 where he is expected to apply for bail.

Khanyisile Dhlomo’s body was found in September 2022 on the lawn of her home in Malvern, south of Durban.

She had st@b wounds to her neck and chest, including a deep cut beneath her left breast.

Despite the severity of her injuries, her husband reported the d3ath as a suicide.

At the time, investigators took his word at face value. No arrests were made, and the case was closed with minimal investigation. Khanyisile lived in the home with the principal and their teenage son.

“It never made sense,” a family spokesperson said. “The wounds were not self-inflicted. We knew from day one this was m8rder.”

For nearly two years, the principal continued working at the Lindelani-based primary school. But behind the scenes, Khanyisile’s family was pressing authorities to take another look at the case.

They raised complaints with police management and community safety structures, challenging the original conclusion.

In mid-2024, the provincial SAPS Task Team took over the file. Their investigation contradicted earlier findings. Forensic reports, witness interviews, and inconsistencies in the principal’s account pointed to deliberate foul play.

The suspect disappeared shortly before his arrest warrant was finalized. He was eventually tracked down and arrested while hiding in Illovo in late July.

During Monday’s brief court appearance, the principal appeared calm but offered no public statement. The prosecution confirmed they are opposing bail, citing the seriousness of the charge and the suspect’s attempt to evade capture.

“The law is finally catching up,” said a women’s rights advocate outside court. “We’ve seen too many cases of women’s d3aths being misclassified. This principal must answer in full.

Sources confirm that the Khayelihle Dhlomo, is the younger brother of a prominent political figure. While this has not been officially linked to the handling of the case, the connection has sparked widespread speculation and anger.

Community members in Lindelani, where the principal worked, have expressed shock. Parents of learners at Sithembile Primary said they were “horrified” to learn that the man charged with such a violent crime had continued serving in a leadership role.

This case has become a symbol of systemic failures in handling suspected domestic violence murders. Activists are urging SAPS and the Justice Department to review other cases that were closed too quickly.

For now, the suspect remains behind bars. Khanyisile’s family says they are finally beginning to feel that justice is within reach.

“She didn’t just d!e — she was silenced. And the principal tried to bury that truth. Now it’s coming out.”

  • Married special education teacher pleads guilty to sending nud£s to student on Snapchat

Married special education teacher pleads guilty to sending nud£s to student on Snapchat

A married special education teacher from Missouri has admitted to sending nud£ images to a 16-year-old student.

Rikki Lynn Laughlin, 26, was fired after allegations emerged that she’d sent X-rated photos and a video of herself using a sex toy to a male teenager on Snapchat, as well as soliciting nud£ pics of the boy and trying to pressure him into having s£x, according to Maries County investigators.

After initially denying a slew of criminal activity with a child, which included several more severe charges, including statutory r@pe and s£x trafficking, Laughlin has avoided jail after pleading guilty to lesser charges, a local media outlet reported.

Laughlin pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child, creating substantial risk, last Thursday, July 24, according to the report.

She was a teacher at St. James High School in St. James, Missouri, around 75 miles southwest of St. Louis, at the time of the crimes between Sept. 8 and Oct. 19, 2023.

On Oct. 23, 2024, prosecutors charged Laughlin with felony counts of possession of child p0rnography, tamper or attempt to tamper with a victim in a felony prosecution, statutory r@pe – 2nd degree, s£xual exploitation of a minor, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, furnishing p0rnographic material to a minor, and s£xual trafficking of a child – 2nd degree – under 18 years of age.

Laughlin was sentenced to five years of probation last week.

The student reportedly told police that “things progressed fast” after the Snapchat exchange and that he and Laughlin had kissed.

When she allegedly invited him to have s£x, he “made excuses” because “he did not feel comfortable,” a probable cause statement by the Maries County Sheriff’s Office states.

Her husband was reportedly “away” at the time.

Married special education teacher pleads guilty to sending nuds to student on Snapchat

Maries County officials first launched an investigation after a Phelps County detective tipped them off about an inappropriate relationship at the school, KSDK reported at the time, citing the statement.

The case was then transferred to Grundy County on a change of venue in May last year, KTTN reported.

The same detective later visited Laughlin at her home, where she allegedly acknowledged that she’d received lewd photos from the boy, but claimed he had initiated their contact.

Laughlin also claimed she had not been aware he was a minor.

The detective’s report alleges Laughlin told the student she could go to jail for the material they had exchanged and asked him to delete them when rumours about their relationship spread at the school.

Laughlin has since had her contract at St. James High School in Missouri terminated.

Lagos hairdresser loses six teeth in alleged assault by her boyfriend

A Lagos-based hairstylist identified simply as Fatima was brutalised by her yet-to-be-identified lover, resulting in the loss of her six teeth.

It was gathered that the lovers who reside on Ibadan Street in the Ebute Metta area of the state had a heated exchange of words, which later degenerated into a conflict.

A family member, who craved anonymity, citing personal reasons, told Punch on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 that 27-year-old Fatima got beaten by her lover and lost six teeth in the process.

According to her, the incident occurred on Saturday, July 12.

“A neighbour called and told us that Fatima was hospitalised. At first, we didn’t know that it was as a result of the domestic abuse until the person we sent to check up on her told us that he was beaten by her lover. We knew it was more serious when a picture was sent to us, and we discovered her teeth were affected,” the source said.

“One of her cousins reported the incident at the Denton Police Station and the man was arrested. It was later that we discovered he was released,” the family source narrated.

A resident who identified himself simply as Adetunji said the Kwara State-born victim had allegedly endured constant physical abuse at the hands of her boyfriend.

The resident added that Fatima, however, begged for her lover to be released after her family arrested him over the incident.

“It is not the first time such an incident has happened. The height of it this time round is the damage done to her teeth and that was why the parents got to know about what happened. We have also intervened several times, but we discovered that she kept going back to the man. After the police arrested him, Fatima was the one who pleaded for his release despite her condition,” Adetunji disclosed.

Meanwhile, another source privy to the incident told the publication that Fatima was undergoing treatment in the hospital.

“She had been fitted with temporary dental support, commonly referred to as a “teeth iron gag,” pending a surgical procedure scheduled for August 15,” the source added.
