Joao Pedro will link with the Chelsea squad at the Club World Cup, after a £50m deal was reached with Brighton on Sunday.

The Brazilian forward will travel on Tuesday ahead of his medicals and contract signing.

Chelsea have beaten off competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle United to land Pedro this summer.

This was revealed by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, via his X account on Sunday night.

Romano wrote: “More on João Pedro and Chelsea story from this morning.

“João will complete his medical in Brazil then travel for FIFA Club World Cup next week.

“Contract until 2032, João will travel on Tueday; only wanted Chelsea despite Newcastle efforts.”

Chelsea thrashed Benfica 4-1 in their Round of 16 clash and will take on Palmeiras in the quarter-final.
