Chelsea midfielder, Andrey Santos is to rejoin his former club Vasco de Gama on loan after the Blues failed to secure a work permit for him.

Santos joined Chelsea from the Brazilian side in January for a reported £17.5million.

But the 18-year-old has been unable to feature for the Blues, prompting the west London club to seek a solution that will allow the Brazilian youngster to play first-team football whilst the issue is resolved.

Chelsea disclosed this in a statement via its website on Thursday.

The statement read in part, “Andrey Santos is moving back to Brazil, rejoining his previous club Vasco da Gama on loan.

“He now has the opportunity to develop further at that level.”
