Arsenal legend, Paul Merson has slammed Chelsea’s owners for signing Chinonso Maduekwe from PSV in the January transfer window.
According to Merson, the 20-year-old new signing is not by any measure better than the likes of Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling.
The former Arsenal man wondered why Todd Boehly and his team of experts are wasting money on players who are not better than those already playing at the club.
Maduekwe moved from Ajax to Stamford Bridge in a deal around £29 million and has featured three times for Graham Potter’s side so far.
And after watching the winger play certain games for the Blues, Merson has questioned his signing.
“You can’t tell me that Noni Madueke is a better player than Raheem Sterling or Christian Pulisic. He’s not. Why are you buying a load of players that aren’t better than what you’ve got?” He said on Sky Sport.
