Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has blamed his new signing, Eberechi Eze following their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners were beaten 1-0 by the Reds, with Dominik Szoboszlai firing in from over 30 yards to earn the defending champions all three points.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Arteta was angry with Eze for not taking a golden opportunity he had to equalise for his team.

Eze joined the Gunners from Premier League rivals, Crystal Palace in a deal around £67.5m.

He was introduced in the second half of the game against Liverpool which was his debut for Arsenal.

The England international came on to replace Gabriel Martinelli on 70 minutes.

He had an opportunity to score almost immediately and Arteta saw the miss as one of the high points of the game.

Arteta said, “You have to put the ball in the back of the net.

“Today we have three, four, five situations inside the box one-vs-one.

“Eze is completely through just to finish the action. You have to put the ball in the net if you want to win.”

The defeat was Arsenal’s first of the new season with the Gunners having won their last two games.

Liverpool, meanwhile, maintain a hundred percent start to the season and stay top of the Premier League table with all nine points secured from three games.
