Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney has labeled Manchester City’s Premier League 2-1 victory over Liverpool as a crucial win for the Cityzens, pointing out the challenge of securing a win at Anfield.
Rooney also stressed the importance for the Gunners to concentrate on their own performance in the wake of City’s victory against Arne Slot’s men.
Liverpool looked poised for victory at home after Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning free-kick, but City turned the tide with two late goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
“Today’s win is important for Manchester City,” Rooney remarked on BBC’s Match of the Day. “Anfield is a tough place to go.
“I’m sure Arsenal had a close eye on the game because if City had lost, it would have made things become difficult for them. But Arsenal just need to focus on doing their own job.
“Having [experienced this myself], it is very difficult to do that because the Arsenal players would’ve been watching the [Liverpool vs Man City] game at home and thinking City are slipping up here.”
