Former Chelsea man, Craig Burley, has slammed Manchester United midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, labelling the player a ‘wet blanket’ who does ‘absolutely nothing’.

Ugarte was one of the players signed by former manager, Ten Hag, along with the likes of Antony and Joshua Zirzkee.

Those players were underwhelmed at Manchester United, during Ten Hag’s two-year reign.

NEWSUNPLUG reports that former Manchester United star, Gary Neville had also criticised the former Liverpool star, saying he is ‘not a Manchester United player’.

Ugarte moved to Manchester United from PSG in the summer of 2024 for a fee in the region of £50m from PSG.

Despite playing about 45 games for the Red Devils last season, the Uruguayan did little to suggest he was at the level required to play for the multiple Premier League champions.

Former Scotland international, Burley called the player a ‘wet blanket’.

“Manuel Ugarte is just absolutely nothing,” he said on ESPN.

“He’s just like a wet blanket. Put him in with the kids and even the kids would be going, ‘who the hell is this guy? Seriously.”

In the first two Premier League games this season, the Uruguay international came on as second half substitute and was left on the bench against Burnley.
