A farmer, Mrs Rabiat Atere, has been gruesomely m8rdered by assailants suspected to be herdsmen in Oka-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government area of Ondo State.

The deceased, who hailed from Uba in Oka-Akoko, was reportedly attacked and k!lled on Monday, June 23, while working on her farmland.

Her lifeless body was later discovered and taken to a morgue in Iwaro-Oka.

A video sighted by LIB shows her n@k3d body on the farm, with what looks like machete cuts.

A source confirmed the development to newsmen on Wednesday.

“It is true the incident happened. After her lifeless body was discovered, she was taken to a mortuary in Iwaro,” the source said.

The tragic incident has sparked outrage among residents of the community, particularly youths under the umbrella of the Akoko Youth Forum (AYF), who condemned the k!lling in strong terms.

In a statement, the National President of AYF, Ibukun-Oluwa Akeju, said;

“The Akoko Youth Forum strongly condemns the gruesome and unfortunate k!lling of Mrs. Rabiat Atere. a peaceful farmer and indigene of Ajo Quarter in Uba Oka Community, who was reportedly attacked and m8rdered while working on her farm,” Akeju said.

“This heinous act, allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani assailants, is a direct attack on the peace and safety of our people, a threat we can no longer tolerate.”

Akeju decried the lack of immediate security response in the aftermath of the murder, noting that since the evacuation of the victim’s body by the police, no security presence had been deployed to the area.

“It is deeply troubling that since the incident occurred and the Nigeria Police evacuated her body, no form of security presence has been deployed to the community. Our people are now left to live in fear, without assurance of protection or justice,” he said. Travel packages

The AYF called on security agencies, traditional rulers, and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted, and that peace and security are restored to the affected communities.

“Concrete measures must be taken to prevent future occurrences. The Akoko Youth Forum will not stand idle while our people are subjected to fear, violence, and bloodshed. We demand immediate intervention, justice for the victim, and firm security action from the authorities,” the group added.
