The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has revealed plans to take legal action against popular TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, after a road accident was linked to footage of him live-streaming while driving.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, raised concern over what he described as a growing pattern of dangerous behaviour by celebrities and social media influencers who use public roads to create online content.

He warned that live streaming or any form of content creation that distracts a driver violates traffic laws and puts other road users at serious risk.

Mohammed emphasised that no individual is exempt from the law because of fame or public recognition, noting that the incident serves as a reminder that safety regulations apply to everyone.

Following the development, he instructed the Lagos State Command of the FRSC to commence prosecution over alleged reckless and distracted driving.

The corps marshal added that such actions weaken national road safety efforts and could result in avoidable deaths.

He also urged entertainment organisations and influencer communities to encourage responsible behaviour among their members, stressing that public figures have a strong impact on young Nigerians.

Reaffirming the agency’s position, Mohammed stated that roads are shared public spaces governed by safety rules, not venues for content creation, and assured the public that the FRSC would continue to enforce the law against anyone who endangers lives.
