Galatasaray broke the Turkish Super Lig record last summer with a hefty €75 million permanent signing of Victor Osimhen, unsure of what to expect from the highly talented Nigerian centre forward.
The most expensive player ever bought by a Turkish side has now quenched any doubt about his value, both on and off the pitch
Osimhen’s impact turns profit into performance
Since joining from Napoli, the Super Eagles ace has proven to be not just an asset on the pitch, but also an economic powerhouse for the Istanbul giants.
His high-flying goal-scoring form has powered Galatasaray’s Champions League and domestic campaigns, securing crucial wins that have generated millions in bonuses and commercial returns.
According to Sporx, Osimhen’s contributions in Europe have already yielded €23 million in revenue, €18.8 million from Champions League qualification and €4.2 million from victories over Liverpool and Bodø/Glimt.
Commercial goldmine and fan magnet
Off the pitch, Osimhen’s arrival has created a commercial surge. Within weeks, Galatasaray sold over 40,000 Osimhen-branded jerseys and masks, raking in €8.19 million (₺400 million) in merchandise revenue.
His growing fan connection has also boosted matchday engagement and global visibility for the club.
Unbeaten form and historic records
On the field, Osimhen has maintained elite form, helping Galatasaray remain unbeaten in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Similarly, his brace in the 3-1 victory over Bodø/Glimt extended his scoring streak to seven consecutive European matches, a new club record, surpassing Burak Yılmaz’s six-game run.
He also became Galatasaray’s fastest scorer in Champions League history, finding the net in the third minute of that same fixture.
With 42 goals in 49 appearances, Osimhen now ranks 20th on the club’s all-time scorers list, overtaking legends like Xhevat Prekazi and Shabani Nonda, while becoming Galatasaray’s top-scoring Nigerian player ever.
Writing his name among the greats
At just 26, Osimhen has already placed himself alongside Galatasaray icons such as Gheorghe Hagi, Mauro Icardi and Bafétimbi Gomis.
