Gunmen, on Monday, allegedly killed three personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Imo State.

It was gathered that during the attack which happened at the Eke Isu Market in Obiangwu community, in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state, traders and residents in the community were thrown into a panic.

It was reported that the NSCDC personnel were in a vehicle heading to a destination when the gunmen ambushed their vehicle and killed them.

The source explained that immediately after security agents including soldiers were alerted to the incident, they mobilised to the scene to forestall further attacks and track down the assailants responsible for the attacks in the community.

As of the time of filing this report, the corpses of the slain corps were said to still be at the scene.

The source said,

“Three operatives of the NSCDC were killed at the Eke Isu Market in Obiangwu community, in the Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State.

“They were ambushed while in their vehicle. Their bodies have not been evacuated as we speak. Soldiers have taken over the community.”

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, while confirming the attack on the three NSCDC personnel, said security operatives had moved in and restored normalcy in the community.
