How Much Will PSG Pay Mbappe After His Win In Court?

Here is how much PSG will be expected to pay Kylian Mbappe following his court victory.

A French labour court has ruled that Paris Saint-Germain must pay the ex-PSG forward €60 million (£50m / $63m) in unpaid wages and bonuses, a massive blow for the Ligue 1 champions and win for Mbappe.

To make matters worse for PSG, their eye-watering €440 million counter-claim was thrown out entirely.

The case revolved around Mbappé’s unpaid salaries for April, May and June 2024, along with an ethics bonus and a signing bonus. His legal team wasted no time celebrating the decision, saying the outcome was exactly what you’d expect when a club fails to pay a player for work already done.

PSG plan to appeal, but for now the ruling is crystal clear. The legal battle began after Mbappé left Paris in 2024 to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, ending one of football’s most dramatic relationships.

PSG claimed there was a verbal “gentleman’s agreement” between Mbappé and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, in which the player supposedly agreed to waive his salary if he didn’t extend his contract.

The court wasn’t buying it. With no written proof of such an agreement, PSG’s argument collapsed, and their €440m claim for damages and “loss of opportunity” was dismissed with no legal basis.

While the court rejected some of Mbappé’s additional claims including allegations of harassment, it made one thing very clear: labour law applies to footballers too.“This is a victory we’ve been waiting for a long time,” Mbappé’s lawyers said outside the court.

“For 18 months, Kylian Mbappé has been asking for one simple thing: to be paid the wages and bonuses for the work he performed.”

Even more damaging for PSG, the court ordered immediate payment, meaning the club must cough up now, not later. Mbappé’s camp hopes PSG will comply voluntarily, without the need for legal enforcement.

PSG refused to comment immediately after the ruling but have been ordered to publish an acknowledgement on their official website, with a statement expected on Tuesday.
